RELEASE: A Diverse Dance Arts Workshop for Diverse Beings

This accessible workshop introduces the idea of a "movement mantra" in the form of song, and explores identifying what we desire to release while moving towards what we wish to receive.

Dance is an integrative, whole-health experience. It's good for the mind, body, and spirit. In this Centered at the Center experience, you are invited to join Chezale Rodriguez, a multidisciplinary teaching/performing artist, and arts & cultural advocate who utilizes music, dance, storytelling and dialogue to inspire healing, liberation and inclusivity, for an hour and a half of movement.

The University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine and Banner Health invite the community to attend, free of charge with free parking on Saturday, January 17 at 3:00 PM MST.

Check-in begins at 2:45 PM at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine Cantor Building located at 1502 N. Mabel Street, Tucson, Arizona.

Registration is encouraged but not required — walk-ins are welcome. Registering helps us prepare and accommodate any accessibility needs.

Chezale Rodriguez Bio:

Chezale Rodriguez is a multidisciplinary teaching/performing artist, and arts & cultural advocate who utilizes music, dance, storytelling and dialogue to inspire healing, liberation and inclusivity. She is native to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Tucson, Arizona being her home for most her life.

Musically rooted in Hip-Hop, R&B and Soul, Chezale has recorded and released two full-length studio albums with several collaborative projects in between, both nationally and internationally. She has starred in multiple musicals and stage productions. Chezale is also represented as an actress and voice talent. She has served as a dance educator and mentor for youth, as well as a practical dance instructor with the University of Arizona's Africana Studies and Hip-Hop Minor, since 2016. Chezale is a facilitator, keynote speaker, host/MC and has served as a panelist and dance judge within the arts community. She has served Phoenix, Arizona's west valley as an arts and cultural administrator and is currently completing her graduate degree in Dance Education.

In the wake of her recovery and healing journey as the result of a life-altering event in 2023, Chezale, in collaboration with her life partner co-founded ChezSpirit, an inspirational concept created out of survival and a will to live. It is a service where they co-facilitate arts centered and wellness-based experiences that uplift and transform both learning and community spaces.

Chezale also founded Diverse Dance Arts…"Dance expression for diverse beings that promotes confidence, liberation, well-being, community & visibility." As a recipient of the 2025 ARPA Artists Grant, the launch consisted of a transformative four-part workshop series; in partnership with Art State Arizona (formerly SAACA) & Catalyst Creative Collective in Tucson, Arizona.

Chezale's dedication to the arts and to her new life has moved her to commit to providing authentic, mindful, inspirational, educational, inclusive and accessible components to her work that deeply impact the communities she works with.
